Niger State Employs 70 Herdsmen To Curtail Clashes

The director general, Nomadic Affairs, Niger State, Alhaji Abdullahi Babayo has disclosed that 70 Fulani youths and herdsmen from the state have been employed into the state and federal governments’ services aimed at curtailing the incessant herders/farmers clashes.

Babayo, who made the disclosure in an interview at the weekend, said that the move was to engage the Fulani herdsmen in other for them to co-exist peacefully with other members of the society.

He stated that it was a deliberate programme aimed at taking the educated Fulani youths with degree and certificate, out of criminal activities and serve as models to other herdsmen to acquire education.
